About this Role

Behavioural Support Officer

37 hours per week, term time only and teacher training days.

 

Salary:  Grade 5

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Officer to join our team and help create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families to support students who may experience behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in managing behaviour and engagement within school.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage confidence, motivation, and wellbeing.
  • Work alongside teachers to implement behaviour support strategies and intervention plans.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support where required.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies when appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A proactive and positive approach to behaviour management.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential.
