About this Role

We are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join The Hive — our specialist autism provision at Ravenstone Primary School. This is a unique opportunity to support children with autism to thrive in a structured, nurturing and highly inclusive environment, while also accessing learning within the mainstream school.

Working closely with the Head of the Hive, class teachers and a skilled team of professionals, you will support pupils both within the ASD Base and during their integration into mainstream classrooms. You will play a key role in helping children access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build independence through tailored, individualised support.

The role involves delivering and adapting learning activities for individuals and small groups, using specialist approaches such as TEACCH, SCERTS, Intensive Interaction, Makaton and PECS. You will help create a calm, engaging and purposeful learning environment, making use of our excellent facilities including sensory spaces, outdoor learning areas and therapy rooms.

You will contribute to monitoring pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and supporting the planning of personalised learning. You will also play an important role in managing routines, supporting positive behaviour and ensuring pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

At Ravenstone, we believe in developing our staff as much as our pupils. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, with access to ongoing training and professional development both within the school and across the Wandle Learning Trust.

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with autism
  • Calm, consistent and able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Proactive, reflective and willing to learn new strategies
  • Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed

In return, you will join a warm and welcoming school community where staff are valued, supported and encouraged to grow. This is more than a role — it is a chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, where small steps lead to big progress every day.

Ravenstone is part of the Wandle Learning Trust, a growing Multi Academy Trust with schools in South London and East Sussex, currently comprising of two secondary schools and eight primary schools.  The Trust also runs the Wandle Learning Partnership, which oversees our English, Maths and Teaching DfE Hubs, as well as our sector leading phonics programme, Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and a Children’s Barred List check.

The Wandle Learning Trust values the diversity of our students and is proud to inspire them through representative teaching and support staff.  We aim to select all staff on merit, irrespective of race, sex, disability, age, gender reassignment, sexuality or other protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.

The Academy welcomes applications from disabled candidates. If you have a disability, please indicate any adjustments we might make when applying in order to ensure that the shortlisting process is fair and meets your needs.

CVs are not accepted.
