About this Role

The Directors of St Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Academy Trust are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring, and highly motivated Achievement Support Assistant (L2 TA) to work as part of the team at St Peter's VC Academy. 

The successful candidate will work across the school giving appropriate support for pupils of all abilities, some of whom have SEND. You will support teaching staff with the children’s social, emotional and academic progress, delivering interventions to enhance pupils learning and provide supervision and care of children at various times of the day.   

This role is fixed term until 31st August 2026 - 30 hours per week Monday to Friday - Term time only plus 5 additional training days 

An Achievement Support Assistant helps pupils who need additional support to succeed in the classroom.  they work closely with teachers to support children with a range of needs, includng learning difficulties, disabilities, or those who speak English as an additional language.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individual pupils or small groups with their learning;
  • Helping pupils understand instructions and stay focused;
  • Assisting the class teacher in preparing resources and managing the classroom;
  • Encouraging pupil's confidence, independence and social skills;
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers;
  • ASA's play a vital role in helping every child reach their full potential in a safe and supportive environment;

  • encourages pupils to interact with others and engage all children in learning activities led by the teacher;

  • is willing to participate fully in ensuring inclusion of all children.
