Ashgate Croft is a large and complex area special
school. We provide education and care for pupils with severe learning
difficulties, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties and
associated communication, behavioural and physical needs. There are currently 160
pupils and 140 staff, and these numbers are expected to grow.
We are seeking a School Business Assistant
(Receptionist) to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a key
front‑of‑house role, supporting the whole school and working closely with the
School Business Manager and wider admin team. You will be the first point of
contact for visitors, families and professionals, offering a warm, welcoming
and professional greeting at all times; in line with our school values and
safeguarding guidelines.
We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable
and takes pride in their work. The role involves working independently in the
reception office, so you will need to feel confident and motivated when working
alone, as well as able to cope in a very busy and often fast‑paced environment.
You will also enjoy helping others throughout the day, including staff and
students. You will be responsible for allowing people entry onto the site, and
you will need to be calm and alert in the event of possible incidents.
Key daily responsibilities include ensuring accurate and
timely completion of essential tasks such as dinner ordering and pupil
attendance. Basic Word and Excel skills are required alongside the ability to
work online systems.
Please refer to the attached job description and person
specification for full details.
This is a permanent, term‑time only position (39 weeks
per year, including INSET days) working 31.25 hours per week,
Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.15pm
We warmly welcome visits to the school. If you would
like to look around or have any questions, please contact Sarah at acsfinance@learnerstrust.org to
arrange a visit.
Please note that we are required to have references prior
to interviews taking place due to safeguarding regulations, so references will
be requested for all shortlisted candidates prior to interviews.
We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff
and applicants. Applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age,
disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and
maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
Due to this post having access to children and/or
vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a
Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will
not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are
judged individually according to the nature of the role and information
provided.
