Purpose:

As a Teaching Partner at Charlton Wood Primary Academy, you will play a vital role in transforming the educational experience for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. You will provide high-quality, adaptive support through a blend of 1:1 interventions and small-group activities, tailoring your approach to help each child meet their unique academic, social, and emotional milestones. Working closely under the guidance of class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals, you will implement bespoke curricula and speech and language sessions, while also providing the essential personal care, emotional regulation, and behavioural support that allows our pupils to thrive.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to help them access the curriculum and reach developmental milestones.
  • Implement and monitor specific interventions, including speech and language sessions and individualised curricula, as directed by the SENCO, class teacher, or external agencies.
  • Provide personal, social, and emotional support, including using proactive strategies to promote emotional regulation and manage challenging behaviour.
  • Assist with intimate care and hygiene needs, ensuring all personal care and changing are handled safely and respectfully in line with school policy.
  • Facilitate social communication and interaction among peers to ensure children are included and engaged both in the classroom and during playground duties.
  • Liaise regularly with stakeholders, including feeding back to class teachers, sharing daily successes with parents/carers, and working with external professionals to review intervention programmes.
  • Contribute to assessment and record-keeping by taking accurate pastoral notes, recording observations of pupil progress, and communicating concerns promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain the learning environment, which includes organising resources, supporting the use of learning technologies, and creating inclusive displays.
  • Administer specified medical care or procedures as required, following the receipt of appropriate training from qualified practitioners.

We offer:

  • Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
  • Paid induction and training suited to the role
  • Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free parking
  • Use of the Cycle Scheme
  • Paid completion of a DBS check
  • Flu vaccination vouchers
  • Free eye tests (where the employee is desk-based)
  • Where eligible, automatic enrolment to the relevant pension scheme
  • Honouring of continuous service earned in the Local Authority
