Vacancy for Level 2 Teaching Assistant at Somersham Primary School!

Salary: Meridian Trust Grade 5 Point 5 £17,392

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday 08:45-15:15, 38 weeks per year (term time only)

Fixed term contract until 31/08/2026


We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at Somersham Primary School! This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the learning and progress of pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, working to provide one-to-one support for children in EYFS and Year 1. You will be adapting teaching resources, thinking of new ways to learn, being fun and creative in your approach and adaptable to children's needs. You will be reactive, able to think on your feet and be able to build highly effective relationships with children who find communication difficult.  Our Teaching Assistants are highly valued in our school – you will work closely with our SENDCo and SEND team to provide our children with the best possible educational opportunities.

 The ideal candidate:

  • Will possess GCSE English & Maths Grade C (4/5) or above or equivalent
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND of behavior needs would be beneficial.
  • Possess outstanding communication skills and can work well in a team
  • Can be adaptable, take on board new ideas and think on their feet!
  • An understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues
