About this Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an SEN Teacher at Bradford Alternative Provision Academy.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a personalised and inclusive curriculum, building positive relationships with students, and helping them develop both academically and socially. You will play a big part in ensuring these young people achieve the best outcomes possible, in their personal development and academically.

About our school

BAPA comprises three main sites; Aireview in Saltaire, Jesse Street at Fairweather Green, and Cityview in Bowling. In addition, some students access provision at our pre-site assessment building at The Loft and students who are unable to access these sites due to EBSA characteristics are able to attend The Bungalow.  This role is at The Bungalow, which is based on the grounds at Holybrook Primary School. The sites work closely together to offer the best service for young people, families and schools. Please see our website for the overall intent and the intents of the different sites.
We teach and support young people who have been excluded from school or for whom mainstream education is not working and they are vulnerable to permanent exclusion.

About the role

The role will initially be based at our Bungalow site which is situated within the grounds of Holybrook Primary School (BD10 0EF). The Bungalow offer at Bradford AP Academy aims to support students who display signs of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) characteristics and SEMH to enable them to increase their confidence, self-esteem and to re-engage with their learning.

This provision aims to re-engage students who have been out of education for an extended period of time, or are experiencing anxiety or trauma that prohibits them from successfully engaging in full time education. This is through a flexible curriculum that is adapted to the needs of the individual student. This supports the students to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a small group setting before progressing onto a main BAPA site and ultimately into a long-term educational setting.

The team you will be joining do incredible work with our young people who often come with complex and traumatic backgrounds. As such, you can be assured that you will be part of a strong team of people who support each other, and you too will be supported to be the best you can be, putting young people at the heart of all we do.

Bradford Alternative Provision Academy is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  The Trust has an excellent reputation within Bradford and beyond, and an outstanding track record of supporting staff in developing their careers through specialist training lead by the Exceed Teaching School Hub and our Outstanding SCITT.
