An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Behaviour & Learning Practitioner (BLP) with Lunchtime Supervision (LS) at Bradford Alternative Provision Academy (BAPA) - initially based at our Jesse Street site in Fairweather Green, Bradford (BD8 0JQ).
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers and students, delivering a personalised and inclusive curriculum, building positive relationships with students, and helping them develop both academically and socially. You will play a big part in ensuring our young people achieve the best outcomes possible, both in their personal development and academically.
About our school
Bradford AP Academy comprises of three main sites; Aireview in Saltaire, Jesse Street at Fairweather Green, and Cityview in Bowling. In addition, some students access provision at our Pre-assessment sites at The Bungalow and The Loft. The sites work closely together to offer the best service for young people, families and schools.
We teach and support secondary age young people who have been excluded from school or for whom mainstream education is not working.

Bradford Alternative Provision Academy is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The successful candidate will:
• Support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and behavioural challenges
• Be aware of and follow up on safeguarding procedures that arise, following and complying with policies and procedures including child protection, health and safety and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
• Provide pastoral support to pupils and attend to pupils’ personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health & hygiene development.
• Participate in assessment of pupils to determine baseline and exit level, whilst assisting the teacher with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans.
• Support provision for pupils with special educational needs
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
• Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangement with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils
• Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance.
• Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.
• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance etc.
• Use a 'Team Teach' methodology to support positive behaviour management of pupils.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies
