About this Role

Assistant Principal (Primary) – Woodlands Academy

Are you creative? Are you a risk-taking educator? Do you have a passion for inspiring greatness in every child? If you have answered yes to these questions, then you could be the person we are looking for!

Woodlands Academy is an Outstanding school, with a clear vision for continued progression, future success (we remain proud but not satisfied), and sharing good practice across and outside of the Trust.  We are a place of nurture and inclusivity, where our whole community is empowered to thrive, and everyone belongs.

We are seeking a visionary and skilled Assistant Principal to join our senior leadership team and play a key part in our continued success.

As proud members of the Harbour Learning Trust, our success is built on a philosophy of care and high standards. We are a values-driven community looking for an inspiring Class Teacher to join our supportive network that prioritises continuous professional development and a strong team ethos.

The Role

  • Location: Woodlands Academy, Grimsby

  • Salary Scale: L1 -L5

  • Contract Type: Permanent

  • Reports to: Principal

  • Start Date: September 2026

We are looking for a leader who lives and breathes high-quality teaching and learning. You understand that a school is only as strong as the practice in its classrooms, and you have the coaching expertise to help our staff reach the heights of pedagogical excellence.

Beyond the classroom, you will lead on curriculum review and implementation. We seek someone who can weave together academic rigour with a sequence that sparks curiosity and ensures long-term retention.

We are looking for:

  • A Passionate Pedagogue: You have a proven track record of delivering exceptional results and can model "what great looks like" for colleagues.

  • A Curriculum Expert: You understand the nuances of cognitive science and how to translate a broad vision into a cohesive, high-impact curriculum.

  • A Change Agent: You are resilient, empathetic, and capable of bringing staff along with you on a journey of rapid improvement.

  • A Collaborative Leader: You thrive in a team environment and are ready to contribute to the wider strategic direction of the school.

  • A Visionary:  You are someone who doesn't just see where we are, but possesses the clarity and drive to help us continue to develop and share our expertise.

If you are a middle leader ready for the next step, or an experienced senior leader looking for a fresh challenge in a school with high aspirations and a commitment to inclusion, we want to hear from you.

About our Trust

We are proud to have the highest performing primary and secondary schools in our area and we are honored to have been shortlisted for the TES Inclusive Trust of the Year Award.
