The Trust

Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher (Intervention Lead) from September 2026, who is ambitious, motivated and highly skilled to join our senior leadership team.

Currently there are two schools within the Trust, Kenilworth School and Sixth Form, Warwickshire and The Westwood Academy, Coventry.  The postholder will based at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form.

Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is the only secondary school in the community of Kenilworth and is oversubscribed with engaged, motivated and well-behaved pupils.  In September 2023 we opened our doors of Kenilworth School after relocating to a brand new, bespoke campus on Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth.

Ofsted rated the school as Outstanding in November 2023, maintaining our rating from 2013.  The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject.

Our educational ethos encourages our students to be responsive, resilient, to have reasoning, be reflective and resourceful in their learning.

The Role

We are seeking an ambitious, values-driven Assistant Headteacher (Intervention Lead) to join our senior leadership team and make a significant impact on the life chances of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged students.

This is a key strategic and operational role, focused on raising attainment, improving attendance and engagement, and reducing educational disadvantage through high-quality, evidence-informed intervention.

As Assistant Headteacher (Intervention Lead), you will:

Provide strategic leadership for whole-school intervention, ensuring high impact support for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils

Lead and evaluate targeted academic and pastoral intervention to improve outcomes across key stages

Drive a successful Year 6–7 transition programme, working closely with partner primary schools and families for a successful Year 6–7 transition, including bespoke opportunities for key students

Promote and increase attendance through bespoke strategies and liaison with families external agencies for vulnerable students to narrow gaps by student groups

Provide appropriate intervention and support to improve the attendance of girls below the overall school average

Similarly, appropriate intervention and support to improve the attendance of pupil premium/FMS Ever6 students where appropriate

Promote engagement of and participation in enrichment activities for vulnerable students and those who disadvantaged

Undertake the role of Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC), ensuring safe, inclusive and enriching educational experiences for all students*

Embed and uphold robust safeguarding practices, ensuring the welfare of students is central to all decision-making

Contribute fully to whole-school leadership, culture and improvement planning

 * appropriate training will be provided for the EVC role as described above

Has a proven track record of improving outcomes for disadvantaged or vulnerable learners

Demonstrates strong strategic thinking alongside effective operational delivery

Is an excellent communicator who can inspire staff, students and families

Has sound knowledge of safeguarding, attendance, transition and intervention strategies

Is ready to play an active role as a senior leader, modelling high professional standards at all times

The successful candidate will have had proven middle leadership experience to deliver against high standards.
