The Trust

Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust comprises two schools, Kenilworth School and Sixth Form and The Westwood Academy, Coventry.  The vacancy will be based at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form. 

Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is the only secondary school in the community of Kenilworth, is oversubscribed with engaged and motivated pupils.  Since September 2023, Kenilworth School and Sixth Form has been based in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus on Glasshouse Lane, offering staff and students an exceptional modern and prestigious environment for teaching and learning.

The Role

We have two new roles and are seeking to appoint committed and resilient Pastoral Support Assistants to join our pastoral team. Reporting to the Deputy the postholders will work with the Senior Leadership Team, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Pastoral Support Manager and closely with teaching staff.  The postholders will play a key role in supporting the pastoral team in maintaining high standards of behaviour, attendance and safeguarding across the school.

The successful candidate will support the well-being, personal development and academic progress of students, with a particular focus on either Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4. You will be an integral part of the pastoral team, providing first-line support to students and acting as a vital link between school, families and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Provide first-line pastoral support to students, addressing personal, social, developmental and behavioural needs.

Support students to identify barriers to learning and develop strategies to achieve their full potential.

Work closely with Heads of Year, SLT and teaching staff to respond to student issues and concerns.

Contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

Provide daily support to the Attendance team, including data input, liaison with parents/carers and conducting safe and well visits where required.

Act as a key link between the school, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students.

Support and lead early help processes for identified students within a key stage.

Respond to requests for in-lesson support and undertake on-call duties as directed.

Contribute to a strong culture of safeguarding, ensuring all concerns are identified, recorded and reported appropriately.

Support the school in fulfilling its statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience of working with young people in a school or community setting.

Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Has the confidence to challenge behaviour in a calm and professional manner.

Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.

Has an understanding of safeguarding, attendance and behaviour processes.

Is committed to supporting the well-being and success of all students.

As travel within the local area is a requirement, ideally candidates should hold a current driving licence.

Working Hours

This is a term time only role and the working hours are:

Monday to Friday:    8.30am – 4.30pm (with a 30-minute lunch-break)
