About this Role

UTC Plymouth, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced SEND Administrator to join the School in April 2025.

FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade C, Pt 5–7, £24,970 - £25,584 per annum, pro rata

Contract Type: Fixed Term until January 2026

Contract Hours: 29.6 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

The SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) administrator will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient running of the SEND department at the UTC. Key duties include managing and maintaining records for students with special needs, coordinating assessments and referrals, liaising with parents, teachers, and external agencies, and ensuring compliance with SEND regulations. They also assist in the preparation of reports, handle communication between stakeholders, and help manage resources and provisions to ensure that students receive the necessary support to thrive.

About the successful candidate

The successful candidate for the SEND administrator role would be highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. They would possess strong communication skills, enabling them to liaise effectively with parents, teachers, external agencies, and other professionals, while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity when handling personal and sensitive information. An understanding of SEND is preferable although training can be given to any suitable candidate who has not previously worked in this field but has strong administrations skills, along with problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges in resource allocation, student needs, or communication with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate would be tech-savvy, able to manage records and reports with accuracy using relevant software, and flexible enough to adapt to changing priorities. They would also demonstrate a team-oriented approach, collaborating with educators and external partners to ensure that SEND students receive the best support and outcomes. Above all, the candidate should show empathy, discretion, and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment for all students.

UTC Plymouth is an educational college for 11-19 year olds specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. Our curriculum is delivered through a combination of industry standard workshop experiences, a focus on high achievement in core academic subjects and industry-led challenges with the aim of offering clear progression routes into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further learning in work.
