About this Role

Job Title: Pastoral Support - 2 Vacancies

Bourne End Academy is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support to join our committed pastoral team and make a real difference in the lives of our students.
About the Role
As Pastoral Support, you will play a vital role in providing whole‑school pastoral support, helping students overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they feel safe, supported and ready to engage. You will work closely with the Pastoral Team, as well as families and external agencies, to address attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding needs.
We are seeking someone who is nurturing, resilient and committed to doing the right thing for students. You will bring strong communication skills, excellent relationship‑building ability, and a passion for supporting young people.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support students’ wellbeing and behaviour, providing guidance to help them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Monitor and improve attendance and punctuality, following up absences, liaising with families, and supporting students back into school.
  • Work proactively with vulnerable students, offering emotional, social and pastoral support to promote their personal development.
  • Liaise with parents, staff and external agencies, including assisting with home visits and signposting families to relevant support.
  • Record and follow up pastoral incidents, maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to Pastoral Support Plans.

Pay range: SCP 18 - 22 (37 working hours per week - 39 working weeks a year)  £28,617.18 - £30,518.72 - This includes a fringe allowance £879.53

Full time equivalent (37 working hours per week - 52 working weeks a year) £32,537.00 - £34,699.00 - This includes a fringe allowance of £1,000.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4–9) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable understanding of young people’s social, emotional and educational development needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues and procedures.
  • Understanding of 'Early Help' strategy, policies and protocols (desirable).
  • Recent and relevant CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
