About this Role

We seek to appoint an Assistant Director of Learning (DL) team to work alongside the Director of Learning in Maths to develop and implement policies, plans, targets, and practices within the Maths department. In line with the school aims, you will play an active role in making changes to raise the quality and level of attainment and progression of learners within Maths at Poynton High. The Assistant Director of Learning will also take responsibility for a Key Stage as part of their role. The successful candidate will be passionate about Maths and actively promote all students succeeding in Maths.

The Maths department contains seven full-time and five part-time teachers. The Maths leadership team consist of five people. The Director of Learning is supported by a Key Stage Coordinator for each Key Stage, one of whom will be the Assistant DL for Maths. There is also a Teaching and Learning coordinator in the department who supports the continual professional development of the department. In addition to our in-house professional development, staff are given opportunities to attend external courses, such as those run by the AMSP and the Maths Hub. In addition to the leadership structure in the department, the Director of Learning is supported by a member of the school’s Strategic Leadership Team.

The school motto is INSPIRE ACHIEVE CELEBRATE and we apply that to every element of school life.  Our role as staff is to ensure that we inspire every student to achieve the best they possibly can in everything they do, whether that be academic, sporting, cultural or in the community and at the heart of our culture is a celebration of that achievement.  We hope that as a prospective member of staff you will share our mission to “inspire and empower all within our learning community to fulfil their individual potential and ambitions so that all are able to be active and successful citizens in our global society.

Our students and our staff are our greatest resource and we were very pleased that Ofsted formally recognised this in our most recent inspection, saying that our ‘teachers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subjects that they teach’ and that they provide rapid support to address any misconceptions that may arise ‘.

We are exceptionally proud of our staff and the dedication they display every day to support our students to reach their potential. Whether a member of our Leadership Team, Teaching Staff or Support Team – all have a vital role to play in providing an environment where we can provide world class education where all can achieve.

We offer highly competitive salaries, pension scheme membership, free on-site parking and regular social events. All staff are able to access discounted gym memberships and other negotiated benefits across the Trust. The Trust provides an Employee Assistance Programme  which offers a wide range of services including legal and wellbeing support for employees and their families.
