About this Role

Lead Practitioner of MFL (French) – Ernulf Academy

Ernulf Academy is on a mission to be the most improved school across Cambridgeshire. Do you want to be part of the journey to transform a community school?

We are seeking a full-time Lead Practitioner of MFL (preferably French) to join our thriving team. Support the Head of MFL in leading and developing the department, and help raise standards of student attainment and achievement. Join a team of experienced, reflective, and enthusiastic subject-specialists committed to maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline.

Our Vision and Values: At Ernulf Academy, we are driven by our core values of Scholarship, Curiosity, Tenacity, Responsibility, and Respect. These values underpin every action and conversation within our school, guiding us to provide an inclusive, aspirational, and academic education for all our students. We are unapologetically ambitious for every child, ensuring they have the option to go to university or pursue an aspirational alternative.

What We Offer:

  • A knowledge-rich curriculum built on ‘powerful knowledge’ and traditional T&L approaches.
  • Collaborative planning with centralised, shared units of work and resources.
  • Excellent support from the Astrea Trust Central team.
  • A feedback policy focused on whole class feedback.
  • Disruption-free learning and a ‘warm/strict’ behaviour system.
  • Highly visible/supportive senior leaders.
  • Centralised detentions, including homework detentions.
  • No formal graded lesson observations – just ongoing ‘no-stakes’ instructional coaching.
  • Excellent ongoing CPD, career development, and promotion opportunities across the Astrea Cambridgeshire region.
  • Opportunity to complete NPQs.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A highly effective and inspiring leader who can motivate and encourage colleagues.
  • Someone aligned to our values and mission.
  • Someone who passionately believes that all children can achieve, no matter their starting point, background, or needs.

Interested in Applying? If you’re interested in this role, looking for a new challenge, or have a passion for education, take a look at the Applicant Brief to find out more about the role and how to apply. We actively welcome visits and would be delighted to show you around our Academy.

Safeguarding and Diversity: Astrea Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All posts are subject to satisfactory background checks including references and enhanced DBS checks. We value diversity and encourage applications from candidates who are underrepresented in our workforce, including people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, and LGBTQI+ communities.
