Are you passionate about ensuring all students achieve academic excellence? Do you want to disrupt disadvantage? Are you a current Mathematics or Science Teacher looking to take the next step in your career and inspire others? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be the right person for us!

Ernulf Academy is seeking a Head of Year who is dedicated to the development of young people and contributing to our senior management team.

About the Role:
We are building an exceptional team of enthusiastic and highly skilled leaders, committed to driving excellence and transformative change in our school. If you have a deep passion for mathematics or science, a proven track record of delivering impact and outstanding results, and the expertise to break down barriers to success, empowering scholars and driving social mobility, this could be the role for you.

As the Head of Year, you will take responsibility for a specific year group alongside a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer, with a particular focus on academic attainment. You will enforce high standards and expectations around behaviour, attendance, and progress so that each scholar achieves their full potential. You will uphold the academy vision and values, ensuring excellent outcomes and next stages are the drivers for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the review and action planning of attainment, progress, and ATL data to ensure scholars make at least good academic progress across a range of subjects and towards meeting or exceeding their targets.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastoral Support Officer to deliver the academy vision: "To provide an exceptional, knowledge-rich experience, which ensures all scholars succeed."
  • Role model as the main professional of the year group, representing Astrea values to parents, community, and external agencies.

What We Offer:

  • A knowledge-rich curriculum, built on ‘powerful knowledge’ and a traditional teaching and learning approach inspired by Rosenshine and TLAC.
  • Collaborative planning with centralized, shared units of work and resources.
  • Disruption-free learning and a warm/strict behaviour system.

Benefits:

  • Pension Scheme: Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Employee Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Professional Development: Continued professional development and training opportunities.
  • Convenience: Free on-site parking.
  • Health Support: Access to AXA’s 24/7 health support line for medical advice.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Salary sacrifice deduction for bicycles and cycling accessories.
  • Discounts and Savings: Access to the Blue Light Card and Costco membership.
  • Enhanced Family Leave: Paid leave to support our people when they need it the most.
  • Optical Care: Financial contribution to optical care for habitual DSE users.
  • Life Assurance: Peace of mind for our people and their families.
  • Discounted Gym Membership: Available at The Gym Group with 245 locations nationwide.

Why Join Us?

We believe in teaching powerful knowledge and creating a scholarly culture that is warm, disciplined, and joyful.
