About this Role

Job Title: Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant

Location: Esteem North Academy High Peak

Grade/Scale: Support Pay Scale Grade 8

Contract: 37 hours per week, term time only

Esteem North Academy is seeking an additional flexible, committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled STLA to assist with permanently excluded pupils with learning and engagement at our High Peak site.

Pupils who attend the academy have challenging and often complex needs, and exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. The role will involve supporting pupils in lessons to engage in their learning and supporting pupils at break and lunch times.  You will work with small groups, or with pupils on a one to one basis to meet their needs as directed by the class teacher or site lead. Classes are small with up to 10 pupils. There may be some daily home tuition when this is required to meet pupils needs and taking pupils to off site trips.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You must be able to build positive relationships with our pupils and think outside of the box. You will be responsible for contributing to a small staffing team to ensure that the site runs smoothly, and this may involve stepping up to deliver lessons in staff absence, to small groups or 1:1. A growth mindset and positive ethos are essential characteristics that we are looking for.

The role will be based at our High Peak site and mileage claims for any travel are included in this role. There may be travel to our other academy sites for meetings, Inset and CPD. You are required to have daily access to a car and business use included on your car insurance before you begin the role. You may be required to carry out some home learning or safe and well visits for non- attenders to support the pastoral team.

Esteem North Academy are seeking a positive, flexible, caring individual who is willing to contribute fully to the life of the school and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Please see the attached Application pack including a Welcome from The Executive Head Teacher and more information about Esteem North Academy and Esteem MAT.

- Generous holiday entitlement

- Access to Westfield Health membership scheme including cashback schemes for health and retail benefits, discounted gym memberships, and free confidential advice.

- Access to National College CPD platform
