Location: Esteem South Academy

Contract: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only).
Esteem South Academy is seeking a flexible, committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled STLA to work with pupils off site to deliver one to one tutoring. You will assist permanently excluded, or at risk, pupils with learning and engagement. Pupils who attend the academy have challenging and often complex needs, and exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. You will be allocated to a caseload of pupils. The role will involve supporting pupils off site either in their homes or other public venues to complete work such as maths, English and PSD. You will also organise pupils completing their Functional Skill exams and may be involved with taking pupils to have an initial visit to an AP or take pupils to visit a potential new school. You will also meet new pupils to the academy and complete our suite of baseline assessments for induction.
This role will involve lone working and travel. You will plan your own diary. Where caseloads reduce, you may be required to support on site.
Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You must be able to build positive relationships with our pupils and think outside of the box. You will be responsible for contributing to a small staffing team to ensure that pupil's needs are met. The majority of this timetable is likely to be working with secondary aged pupils. However, we do educate primary children and so there may be a need to educate younger children at times. A growth mindset and positive ethos are essential characteristics that we are looking for.
Individual's must be willing to contribute fully to the life of the academy and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Please see our safeguarding policies on our academy website. www.esteemsouth.co.uk
