About this Role

Great Western Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised SEMH Hub Leader to join our fantastic SEND department.

Since opening in 2018, Great Western Academy has grown to over 1,000 students across Years 7–13 and has established a strong reputation for delivering high standards within a culture built on our values of Achievement, Care and Excellence. Our ethos of “Work Hard, Be Kind” underpins everything we do and supports a positive, inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to thrive.

The SEND team plays a vital role in delivering this vision by ensuring students with additional needs are fully supported and able to achieve their potential. As Hub Leader, you will lead and coordinate the Learning Mentors within your specialist hub while also delivering targeted interventions and in-class support for students with SEND.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates initiative, excellent organisation skills and a proactive approach to supporting students and colleagues. Experience of working with students with SEND and collaborating with families and professionals is desirable; however, applications are equally welcomed by candidates with strong transferable skills, enthusiasm for inclusive practice and a willingness to develop within an experienced team.

You will report directly to our experienced SENDCo and become part of a specialist SEND structure supporting areas including:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health

Experience, qualifications, or a particular interest in one of these areas would be advantageous.

At Great Western Academy, we are committed to investing in our staff and supporting career progression. Ongoing training and professional development are actively encouraged, and several members of our SEND leadership team began their careers at GWA as Learning Mentors.

Additional benefits of working at GWA include:

·         Excellent CPD programme

·         State-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated SEND support spaces

·         Leading-edge ICT with laptops provided for staff and students

·         Medical and wellbeing support services

·         Easy access to the A419 with free on-site parking

Great Western Academy aims to improve the life chances of every student who attends. If you have the skills, commitment and passion to contribute to our inclusive approach and make a difference to young people’s education, we would be delighted to hear from you.

For further information, please refer to the job description. If you would like an informal discussion about the role before applying, please email recruitment@gwacademy.co.uk
