Purpose of Post
Under the direction/instruction of senior staff: provide a clean and hygienic school environment which meets specified cleaning standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Operational
Ø Clean all surfaces, fixtures and fittings.
Ø Clean floors, walls, partitions and internal woodwork as appropriate.
Ø Clean toilets, changing rooms and other sanitary areas.
Ø Clean equipment after use.
Ø Undertake special cleaning programmes during school closure or other designated periods in compliance with the specification of the premises.
Ø Collect and dispose of waste in appropriate manner.
Ø Clean and maintain waste bins.
Resources
Ø Ensure the maintenance of a clean and orderly working environment.
Ø Timely & accurate preparation of routine equipment / resources / materials as set out in instructions.
Ø Undertake basic record keeping as directed.
Ø Refill and replace consumables.
Ø Report faulty equipment & other maintenance requirements to appropriate person.
Ø Maintain the security of school premises by securing entrances / exits as appropriate and reporting potential security breaches.
Ø Ensure lights and other equipment is switched off as appropriate.
Organisation
Ø Maintain and arrange orderly and secure storage of supplies.
Ø Ensure cleanliness of equipment, check for quality / safety – reporting any faults to Site Manager.
Ø Operate everyday equipment in accordance with instructions.
Other Responsibilities
Ø Be aware of and comply with all school policies and procedures

Ø Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
Ø Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
Ø Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
Ø Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.

Ø Be aware of and comply with safeguarding responsibilities as outlined in the school’s Staff Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. This may include reference to Shropshire Career Pathway Safeguarding JD for school staff.
Data Protection and other statutory responsibilities
Ø Be aware of and comply with data protection responsibilities as outlined in the school’s Staff Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. This may include reference to in the Shropshire Career Pathway Data Protection JD for school staff.
Other Duties
Ø Any other duties that the Headteacher / CEO/ Governing Body/ Trustees feel is commensurate with the post. Whilst every effort is made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post each individual task undertaken may not be identified.

Ø This job description is subject to review by the Headteacher/ CEO/ Governing Body/ Trustees in negotiation with the post holder at any time. However, an annual review of this job description and allocation of responsibilities will take place as part of agreed performance management arrangements.
