Heworth Grange School is seeking an exceptional Attendance Manager to lead our attendance strategy and drive improvements across the academy. About the Role

As Attendance Manager, you will take strategic responsibility for attendance across the school, leading on attendance improvement initiatives and supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning.

You will:

  • Lead and develop whole-school attendance strategies
  • Monitor attendance data and identify trends, risks and priority groups
  • Manage complex and persistent absence cases
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to improve attendance outcomes
  • Lead interventions for vulnerable and disadvantaged students
  • Provide specialist attendance advice and guidance to staff and senior leaders
  • Coordinate multi-agency support and represent the school at attendance panels and case conferences
  • Line manage attendance staff and contribute to their professional development

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an individual who has:

Significant experience within education, pastoral support or a related field

Experience working with pupils, parents/carers and external agencies

Strong knowledge of attendance legislation, safeguarding and pupil welfare

Experience managing sensitive and complex cases

The ability to analyse data and use it to drive improvement

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Resilience, empathy and a solution-focused approach

A commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive
