About this Role

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Year 1 team on a 5-week maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils during a key stage of their learning, helping to ensure continuity, stability, and high-quality classroom experiences during the temporary absence of the class teacher.

Working closely with colleagues, you will deliver planned learning activities, support established classroom routines, and help create a nurturing and engaging environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best. You will play an important role in developing pupils’ confidence, independence, and love of learning, while supporting children to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The successful candidate will embody the academy values of independence, resilience, teamwork, safety, creativity, and challenge, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to putting children at the heart of everything they do.

About You

You are passionate about supporting young children and understand the importance of creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

You will:

  • Be adaptable, enthusiastic, and confident in supporting learning across the Year 1 curriculum.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families, helping every child feel safe, respected, and able to succeed.
  • Be committed to high expectations for both learning and behaviour.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills, working collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Promote the academy values of independence, resilience, teamwork, safety, creativity, and challenge in all aspects of academy life.
