The Federation of North Walsham
Infant and Junior Schools
Manor Rd,
North Walsham
NR28 9HG
Vacancy
Location: The Federation of North Walsham Infant and Junior Schools, Norfolk
Salary: Leadership Scale 1-4 - £51,772 - £55,746
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Are you a champion for the underdog? Do you believe that a child’s postcode shouldn't determine their potential?
In our two-form entry Infant and Junior Federation, we don’t just "do" inclusion—it is the heartbeat of everything we do. Set on a shared site in the heart of North Walsham, we are a community that faces the realities of high deprivation head-on. Our families need us, and our children deserve a leader who sees their brilliance through the barriers.
As our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, you won't just be managing paperwork. You will be a strategic architect of change. You will sit at the top table, ensuring that our most vulnerable learners are at the forefront of every decision we make.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading the Vision: Shaping an inclusive culture across both the Infant and Junior phases.
Strategic SENCO Leadership: Overseeing the provision and progress for pupils with SEND.
Empowering Staff: Mentoring teachers and TAs to deliver high-quality, adaptive teaching.
Community Connection: Building trust with families who may have had a difficult relationship with education in the past.
Teaching: Teaching in our Hive class (enhanced specialist provision) for a day and a half a week
Who are you?
We are looking for a people person with a strategic brain. You might be an experienced SENCO looking for that next step into senior leadership, or a brilliant leader with a passion for inclusion who is ready to take on the SENCO mantle.
The Essentials:
The Drive: You recognise the challenge of working in a high-deprivation area and view it as a calling, not a chore.
The Qualifications: Ideally, you hold the National Award for SEN Coordination. However, if you have the leadership experience and the hunger to achieve it, we will fully support your qualification journey.
The Mindset: You are resilient, empathetic, and firmly believe that every child can succeed with the right support.
A Unique Setup: The benefits of a shared site mean you can influence a child’s journey from Reception all the way to Year 6.
A Support Network: A dedicated staff team who are "all in" for our community.
Professional Growth: We invest in our leaders. Whether it’s NPQs or specialised SEN training, we’ve got your back.
If you’re ready to make a tangible difference in North Walsham, we want to meet you. Visits to our schools are warmly encouraged so you can feel the energy of our Federation for yourself.
Closing Date: Friday 10 April 2026
