About this Role

About Springmead

We are a 1.5 form (reducing to 1-form) entry primary school in Panshanger, Welwyn Garden City with a current pupil roll of 249 pupils.   Our ethos is based around relational practice, and we believe that all pupils should be treated with unconditional positive regard and that positive relationships are the foundation of a thriving learning community.  By adopting a relational approach, the school supports not only academic attainment and attendance but also the emotional wellbeing, resilience, and inclusion of students, staff, and parents alike.  In practice, we do not follow a "one size fits all" in relation to punitive measures but we utilise flexible consistency.  Expectations of behaviour are high, and we tailor these and implement safe boundaries to individual needs and capacities and take the approach of equity not equality in all aspects of learning.  As a result, Springmead is a calm, safe environment in which pupils feel valued, supported and that they belong.

We are seeking a talented and innovative qualified teacher to join our school as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo). This is a part time  position, 2.5 days a week (0.5 FTE). You will be committed to ensuring high standards of achievement and progress for all children in our school, regardless of starting point, background, SEND status or other barriers to learning and/or wellbeing.  The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) will hold specific responsibility for the leadership of all aspects of SEND within the school, working with Senior Leaders, teachers, support staff, families,  Trust members and the Local School Committee  to ensure high standards and best practice.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and staff and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role is exempt from the  Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974,  all applicants must declare even "spent" convictions and cautions as this roles could involve working with a vulnerable group. Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.  Please note that we are required to carry out social media checks on all candidates who are invited for interview.

It is our policy to consider applications as they arrive; we therefore recommend that applicants submit applications as soon as possible as posts may be filled before the closing dates.
