Primary Specialist

Ready for something more?

If you’re a passionate KS2 teacher looking for a fresh challenge where you can truly change lives every single day, this could be your next move.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, committed Primary Specialist to join our dynamic and growing SEND team. This is your chance to take your KS2 expertise and apply it in a highly rewarding, specialist setting where relationships, creativity, and impact come first.

You’ll teach small classes within our Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Resource Base, designing personalised, engaging lessons that unlock potential and build confidence. Every lesson matters. Every breakthrough counts.

Our well-established Resource Base within our secondary setting supports around 30 students with EHCPs for SLCN. Students often work below Age Related Expectations, but with the right support, they thrive—sometimes accessing mainstream English and Maths where their strengths shine.

You’ll be part of a provision that blends the best of both worlds:

  • A nurturing, structured base (around 60% of learning)

  • Inclusive mainstream opportunities (around 40%)

Our flexible curriculum is tailored to each learner, opening pathways to a range of meaningful qualifications. This is a provision with a strong track record, real momentum, and a vital role in our school community.

What we’re really looking for:

  • A skilled KS2 practitioner ready to think differently

  • Someone who builds strong, trusting relationships

  • A teacher who can adapt, innovate, and inspire through creativity

  • A commitment to high standards through SEND-informed practice

You’ll join a collaborative, experienced team who are passionate about doing what works—and doing it well.

What Ashton Park School will offer you:

A school with excellent outcomes where staff are happy and valued

A commitment to your well-being with 14% PPA

A team of skillful specialists who are passionate about supporting our learners

A community of staff, students and parents with a strong culture of professional development and improvement

✔ Employee benefits including employee assistance, cycle to work and discounted access to Ashton Park Fitness Centre

Ashton Park is growing great learners, great leaders and a great community

Ashton Park is an inclusive and oversubscribed school, with over 1200 students, set in the beautiful grounds of Ashton Court Estate in Bristol. Our school was in the top 3% of most improved schools in the country when you compare our 2024 GCSE results with those pre-pandemic. In October 2022, Ofsted graded us ‘Good’ in all areas, and we are proud they recognised that: ‘Pupils are happy to attend Ashton Park School. They enjoy their lessons and the range of opportunities the school provides for them. Staff know pupils well and want the best for them.’ The report also commented that ‘lessons are purposeful and learning is rarely interrupted by poor behaviour.’

We are on a journey to excellence and have a mission to grow great learners, great leaders and a great community.

Through our Growing Great Learners framework, we guide and support staff to become excellent teachers, but we also give freedom and autonomy to allow practitioners to be the teacher they want to be in the classroom. We are committed to growing great leaders by providing high quality CPD and focusing on well-being in all the decisions we make. We are growing a great community by ensuring we focus on students, parents and the wider community through our strong culture and ethics.  This is an exciting school to be a part of, one that prides itself on providing a happy and supportive environment for both students and staff.

We wish you the very best of luck with your application and hope to meet you soon!

Please be aware that we will review applications as we receive them and reserve the right to close this posting once suitable candidates have been found. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible in order to be considered.
