The school
Beechfield is a ‘good’ school
based in north Watford one mile from the town centre and half a mile from
Watford Junction station. The M1 and M25 are also nearby.
We are very proud of our
multi-cultural and inclusive school. 57% of our pupils have English
as an additional language and 21% are in receipt of Pupil premium. 44 languages
are spoken across the school. We have a diverse staff who are representative of
our school community. Our children behave well and love learning.
Every day every one of our staff
strive to make a positive difference to the children and families in our school
community. They do this through high expectations and a passion to make a
difference.
Children make amazing progress
at Beechfield A nurturing ethos runs throughout our school
curriculum and teachers work hard to ensure children are given holistic support
to thrive and develop academically as well as socially. We teach our children
to be responsible, resilient, tolerant and compassionate as well as focusing on
the basics, because if children can read, write, communicate and calculate
their choices are opened up.
Ofsted May 2022 ‘Feedback from
parents is overwhelmingly positive. Parents appreciate the caring ethos and
adults’ support of their children’s social and emotional development, and their
academic achievement.’
Beechfield is part of the
Inclusive Multi Academy Trust along with Cherry Tree, Laurance Haines and
Willow Tree School. The vision of the Trust is to ‘inspire and nurture our children
and their community to be the very best they can be.’ The schools keep their
own identities but there are many opportunities for collaboration and support
between the staff in the three schools.
A visit to the school is highly
recommended.
The Trust is committed to
safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a
satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Shortlisted
candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form
prior to interview.
When recruiting and selecting staff, the Trust
is required to comply with all relevant employment legislation to ensure we are
recruiting within the law as well as complying with the Trust’s Equality
Policy. The Selection Criteria document is critical in the process and
sets out the requirements which the person appointed should have in order to
perform the duties of the post satisfactorily and against which applicants will
be assessed. The selection criteria will be used throughout the recruitment
process as an objective test of assessing candidates at shortlisting, test and
interview stages. Shortlisting will be completed by assessing against the
advertised person specification. Our
interviews will always include relevant questions relating to child protection
and/or safeguarding, and will usually involve a child centred task.
