About this Role

About the role:

This is an exciting time to be joining our school, as our new headteacher will be starting at the same time.  This new role is an opportunity for someone who is keen to progress into a leadership position and is enthusiastic about ensuring that inclusion & SEN support is at the forefront of our work. The successful candidate may be someone who is new but enthusiastic about SEND provision or an experienced SENCO looking for a new challenge and leadership opportunities.

As our new Assistant Head for Inclusion & SEND, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEND provision, ensuring that all pupils with additional needs receive the support and guidance required to thrive. Working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies, this is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils and contribute to the ongoing success of our school.  There will be a 40% teaching commitment in a year group, matched to your experience & skills.

The successful candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (or be willing to achieve an NPQ).

Have experience in supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs across primary age groups.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching approaches.

Be able to formulate, implement, and review SEND Support Plans effectively.

Have experience working with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Have a good eye for detail and be able to write compelling applications for additional support to the Local Authority and other agencies.

Be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and external professionals.

Be committed to ensuring safeguarding and working with the school community

Be highly organised, proactive, and committed to continuous professional development.

Why work with us:

We believe that we will only recruit and retain the best colleagues if we are committed to investing in your career.  As a partner school of Soke Education Trust, you will have access to SEND leadership support from within the trust and from external partners.  We are committed to supporting your continuous professional development, your wellbeing and work life balance.  You will have access to our EAP scheme, our Wider Wallet benefit package and our staff networks.
