Fern House School is a special school for pupils aged 5 – 16. We promote and adopt approaches based on attachment theories and neurobiological research to provide our pupils with a supportive framework, which allows them to be heard and understood safely. Our highly adapted curriculum ensures that all pupils can engage in learning and achieve something to feel proud of. We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated Specialist Teaching Assistant who is passionate in helping children succeed and is open to learning a modern approach to understanding neurodiverse pupils.  Though our Specialist Teaching Assistants are currently assigned to a phase, it is important that they are able to work flexibly from across the whole school from Early Years to Key Stage 4.

We encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the wider society that we serve. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice. We champion diversity, inclusion and well-being and aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and a sense of belonging.

What more can we offer?

Enhanced Salary: Recognising the unique needs of our pupils.

Supportive Community: A welcoming, inclusive team with strong values.

Flexible Hours: Work-life balance that fits your needs. Well-being Boost: Paid days off for 100% attendance.

       Modern Facilities: A brand-new, state-of-the-art learning environment.

Outstanding Development: Join a ‘Good’ school with ‘Outstanding’ personal development.

At Fern House School we understand the importance of building meaningful relationships with pupils and families to nurture growth and development of relational milestones such as, building trust and sharing enjoyment. Care and making connections are at the heart of our ethos and we work hard to ensure that all staff feel cared for too.

We are strongly committed to providing high-quality professional development and career progression for all staff as part of the Connect Education Trust. We constantly review our practices to ensure our staff can focus on what matters most: creating a rich learning environment where children can thrive. We offer significant opportunities to collaborate with colleagues both within Fern House School and across the wider Trust. At Fern House School, we encourage expertise by enabling staff to get involved in curriculum developments in areas that genuinely interest them. We foster a supportive atmosphere where staff develop their own practice by working together to create remarkable futures for all pupils.

All Connect Education Trust is committed to safeguarding, therefore all employees working within the Trust must have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of our children and young people. All candidates are required to complete the school’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ declaration and will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). For posts in regulated activity, this will include a barred list check.
