An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Secondary Teaching Assistant at Appleton Academy.

The role of a Teaching Assistant is to work with teachers (including within specialist Resourced Provisions) to raise the learning and attainment of pupils while also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.   The successful candidate will provide support to pupils so they can access the curriculum, participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement.  

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO to support the learning, development and wellbeing of pupils across the school.  This may include working with small groups, supporting individuals with additional needs and contributing to the smooth running of the classroom. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong commitment to ensuring excellent pupil progress
  • Support pupils' learning, both in the classroom and in small group or one-to-one settings
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of high-quality learning activities
  • Be dedicated to sharing responsibilities for raising standards
  • Enjoy a collaborative style approach to working and learning
  • Hold knowledge of successful strategies for assessing and raising pupils' achievement
