Do you have ambition to shape
curious minds?
A sense of responsibility to
challenge how young people see the world?
Can you build respect for every
voice in the room?
If so, Queen Katharine Academy
could be your next exciting career step.
Your
role:
As a Teacher of
Sociology, you will deliver engaging, thought-provoking lessons that bring
society into the classroom and secure strong progress for all learners. You
will use your subject expertise to stretch, challenge and inspire students to
question, analyse and think critically about the world around them.
You will create a
purposeful, inclusive environment rooted in ambition, responsibility and
respect, where all students feel confident to contribute and succeed. Alongside
high-quality planning, assessment and feedback, you will track progress
carefully and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of every learner.
Working collaboratively
is key. You will contribute to the development of schemes of work, share best
practice and support a strong team ethos, while also taking on a tutor
role—guiding students’ personal and academic development and building positive
relationships that help them thrive.
You will bring strong
subject knowledge, hold QTS, and have the ability to deliver engaging and
inclusive lessons. Just as importantly, you will be reflective, driven and
committed to continuous professional development.
About us:
At Queen Katharine Academy, you
will be part of a supportive, diverse and forward-thinking community where
staff are genuinely valued. With access to professional development and
collaboration through Thomas Deacon Education Trust, this is a place where your
career can grow as quickly as your ambition.
Our Social Science department is
ambitious for every learner. We strive for all students to achieve their very
best, to develop a genuine love for our subjects, and to use their learning to
shape their futures.
From GCSE Sociology (AQA) through
to a thriving post-16 offer including A-Level Sociology (OCR), Psychology
(AQA), BTEC Applied Psychology and Applied Criminology (WJEC), student demand
is high and outcomes are strong. Due to the growing demand for Sociology at
both GCSE and A-Level, we are looking to appoint an additional colleague to
support the delivery of these popular and successful courses.
You will join a skilled and
supportive team of four specialists in a well-resourced department where
autonomy is encouraged and success is shared. Our results are reflective of
this environment, with both GCSE and post-16 students making excellent progress
compared with national averages.
This is an exciting time to join
us as the department continues to grow. If you are an enthusiastic sociologist
who wants to make a real difference, you will find both challenge and support
here, along with students ready to be inspired.
