About this Role

The school is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated graduates to join the team as Graduate Unqualified Teachers. This is a unique opportunity to begin a teaching career in a high-achieving and dynamic school.

As Graduate Unqualified Teachers, they will become integral parts of a supportive teaching team, guided by experienced educators who will help them develop their teaching skills. They will receive structured support and mentorship while working alongside their partner teacher.

East Lane Primary School is looking to hire graduate unqualified teachers starting in April 2025. Recent graduates with a passion for education and a desire to gain valuable classroom experience are encouraged to apply.

About the School

East Lane Primary School is housed in a new and purpose-built £14 million building with exceptional resources and is located adjacent to Wembley High. This provides our children with an ‘all-through’ experience of outstanding schools. East Lane Primary School is a 3 form-entry school with pupils from Reception through to Year 6. Our results to date have demonstrated exceptionality in all areas, including Early Years, Phonics, KS1 SATs and KS2 SATs. We have obtained outstanding results year upon year, which continue to be amongst the highest in Brent and significantly above the national average. It is vital that our school maintains the exceptional standards on which we pride ourselves. East lane Primary School has attained Outstanding Status under the new Ofsted Framework.

EYFS: 98% of children achieved a Good Level of Development (2024)

KS1: 89% of children achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths; 21% achieved greater depth (2024)

KS2: 98% of children achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths; 25% achieved greater depth.  (2024)


Requirements:

  •          Recent graduates eager to start their journey into teaching
  •          Hold a 2:1 or higher from a Top 30 University 
  •           Looking to gain classroom experience before committing to teacher training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Begin by teaching 2-3 Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) lessons in their subject area from day one.
  • Mentorship: Receive ongoing mentorship from a qualified teacher throughout induction into the profession.
  • Professional Development: Develop teaching skills in a supportive environment with access to continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Qualification: Start Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) training in September

Person Specification:

  • Hold a 2:1 or higher from a top 30 university (preferred)
  • Open to all subject areas – Maths, Geography, Science, English, RE/Philosophy, History, Computer Science, and more
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new teaching methods
  • Recent graduates eager to start their journey into teaching
  • Potential to transition into a qualified teacher role

All teachers, including unqualified teachers, at East Lane Primary School receive a comprehensive, structured training programme, delivered by highly trained mentors and tailored to the individual’s needs.

As part of the WMAT, the school also hosts the Teaching School Hub for Brent, Barnet, and Enfield, based at Wembley High Technology College (WHTC). Unqualified teachers can undertake NPQs with the school and have the opportunity to develop their experience in the delivery of NPQs across a number of schools
