About this Role

Teaching Assistant

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Term time plus INSET days (39 weeks per year)

About the role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learning and help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

You will support pupils individually and in small groups, helping them engage with lessons, build confidence, and develop independence. Working under the guidance of the class teacher, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEND and EAL.

You will contribute to maintaining a calm, focused learning environment and support effective behaviour management. Your patience, adaptability, and proactive approach will help ensure all pupils can achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.

About us:

As one of London’s leading secondary schools, The Totteridge Academy has earned national recognition for its high expectations and exceptional achievement. Situated in Barnet, North London, it is a highly popular, co-educational, non selective 11–18 academy with over 1,000 students, reflecting the school’s continued growth and strong demand for places. The Totteridge Academy has a warm, inclusive and aspirational culture: an ethos of continuous improvement that has created a vibrant, purposeful community where students feel supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their best.

United Learning is a big group of schools – with over 75,000 pupils and more than 10,000 staff. We seek to improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve and make it our mission to bring out 'the best in everyone' – pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.
