Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 2

Hartley Brook Primary Academy

Contract: Term time only
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent

Hartley Brook Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils at a key stage in their education, helping them build strong foundations for future learning.

Working closely with class teachers and wider staff, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access the curriculum, develop independence, and grow in confidence. You will contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all pupils are engaged, challenged and encouraged to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and staying engaged in learning activities
  • Work with individuals and small groups to consolidate learning and promote independence
  • Assist in delivering targeted support and monitoring progress against learning goals
  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and professionals to meet individual pupil needs

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working with or supporting children, ideally within a school setting
  • A good understanding of how children learn and develop, particularly in Key Stage 2
  • A patient, adaptable and inclusive approach to supporting all learners
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning)
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential

What we offer:

  • A welcoming, supportive and inclusive school community
  • Opportunities for professional development and progression within Astrea Academy Trust
  • Access to a wide range of CPD and staff wellbeing initiatives
  • The opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on pupils’ lives

Commitment to Safeguarding and EDI:

Astrea Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory background checks, including references and an enhanced DBS check. We value diversity and welcome applications from underrepresented groups. As a Disability Confident employer, we provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to ensure all candidates can fully demonstrate their abilities.

In line with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 and the statutory Code of Practice, the Trust requires all public-facing post holders to demonstrate fluent English. Within a school setting, this applies to all roles that involve direct or indirect interaction with pupils, parents, or members of the public.

Flexible Interview Dates:

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early, so don't miss out on this exciting opportunity. Please note that interview dates are flexible, and the academy reserves the right to interview shortlisted candidates during the application window.
