About this Role

Join a nurturing, village team where every child is known by name and supported to flourish.

Why This Role Matters

We are looking for a creative, adaptable, and nurturing Teaching Assistant to join our close-knit, one-form-entry village school. You will have the unique privilege of working across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, bringing consistency and a calm presence wherever you go. You will be working for 4 days. It is likely that your non working day will be Wednesday but this will be discussed at interview on the day to be confirmed.

Whether you are helping children navigate their emotions, leading an outdoor learning session on our fantastic MUGA (Multi Use Games Area), or walking with a class to a service at St Mary’s Church, your day will be varied, vibrant, and deeply impactful.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Nurturing Mindset: You understand that relationships come first and excel at building deep trust with children of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Creative Adaptability: You can take a lesson plan and instinctively adapt an activity "in the moment" to ensure a child who needs extra support stays engaged and inspired.

  • A Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy working alongside a highly experienced, stable teaching team who value your professional voice and insights.

  • High Expectations: You model a growth mindset approach, encouraging children to be resilient, confident, and enthusiastic learners.

Why Work At Garsington?

Garsington is a genuinely warm and collaborative place to work, beautifully reflected in our June 2025 Ofsted inspection which described us as "a wonderful school where every child is cared for." Because we are a small village school, our Headteacher and wider team know every single child—and each other—exceptionally well. We pride ourselves on high staff retention, meaning you will be working alongside experienced colleagues who will support your onboarding and growth every step of the way.

The RLT Connection (Our Shared Foundations)

Garsington is proud to be part of the River Learning Trust (RLT). We believe that the best education is delivered by happy, supported staff, which is why your professional growth and personal wellbeing are inextricably linked here. By joining us, you gain the peace of mind of a large, stable Trust while enjoying the distinct identity of our village school:

  • Tangible Wellbeing Support: Access to dedicated in-school Wellbeing Champions, Mental Health First Aiders, and a confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for expert advice and counselling.

  • Your Voice Matters: We actively listen and refine our practices through annual stakeholder surveys to ensure you feel valued and respected.

  • Workload-Sensitive Growth: Enjoy collaborative, research-led CPLD and a supportive appraisal process designed to protect your workload and focus on achievable, sustainable goals.

  • Professional Security: Secure, government-backed pension (LGPS) and fully recognised continuous public sector service area
