About this Role

JOB PURPOSE:

The class teacher will be responsible for delivering effective learning in accordance with the curriculum, national guidelines and the school’s curriculum policy. The successful candidate would also carry out other duties that support pupils’ learning while operating in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures. They would be responsible for teaching a mixed age class of up to 30 children in Year 5. The role would also include leadership of at least one area of the curriculum. Experience of leading Mathematics would be an advantage.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and teach lessons to assigned class, within the context of the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school’s values and vision.
  • Work with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes.
  • Subject to paragraph 52.7 supervise and so far as practicable teach any pupils where the person timetabled to take the class is not available to do so.
  • Promote the safety and well-being of pupils.
  • Maintain good order and discipline among pupils.
  • Direct and supervise support staff assigned to them and , where appropriate, other teachers.
  • Deploy delegated resources effectively.
  • Participate in arrangements for the appraisal and review of own performance.
  • Participate in  further training and professional development
  • Communicate with pupils, parents and carers.
  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other professionals within and beyond the school.
