The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils who face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) barriers to learning and to help lead our Learning Support Unit on a day-to-day basis.

You will:

  • Provide pastoral support and deliver targeted intervention sessions.
  • Mentor pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Support the ASDAN curriculum and supervise pupils not in mainstream classes.
  • Assist with the development of individual plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Work with staff to adapt learning, monitor progress and provide clear feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.

About You

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
  • Understanding of barriers to learning and how to support pupils with SEND.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and SEND processes.
