About this Role

Pilgrim Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint an After School Club Assistant


Post:                              After School Club Assistant

Location:                     Pilgrim Primary Academy, Oxford Street, Plymouth PL1 5BQ


Salary Range:             Grade A, £24,413, pro-rata, per annum

                                          (Actual Salary £2,055) per annum 

                                                                

Hours/Contract:         3.5 hours per week 3.15pm-5.00pm Wed & Thurs

                                             Part time, Permanent, term-time only 39 weeks per year 


The Role:

We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible person to work in our Pirates After School Club provision.  The clubs, host up to 30 children daily of ages from 4 - 11 years and runs after school hours from 3.15pm - 6.00pm. The club runs every day when school is open to children (equivalent to 38 weeks of the year - in term time only).

 

 Specifically, the role involves:


     Providing children with a range of activities at the end of the school day including crafts, group games, construction, active play (using the school grounds - weather permitting), quiet activities and overseeing homework activity


     Setting up the environment


     Preparation of snacks and drinks (Food Hygiene Certificate required - training can be provided)


     Communication with parents and carers at pick up times (face to face or via telephone)


     Providing First Aid (Paediatric First Aid certification required - training can be provided)

  

The Person:

We are looking for an organised, energetic and caring Assistant for our Pirates Club.  You will:


     Be committed to providing high quality care for all children and meeting the needs of each child in your care


     Plan and implement the delivery of a varied programme of games, crafts, activities and homework supervision


     Have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, rigorous safeguarding practices and a commitment to maintaining up to date safeguarding knowledge through additional training


     Hold a NVQ level 3 in Playwork/Childcare or similar (e.g.NCFE CACHE Level 3 Playworker) and have experience of working with children aged 4-11yrs.


     Hold Food Hygiene Certificate Understand and practice requirements for food hygiene and dietary and allergy restrictions (Food Hygiene Certificate required)


     Be trained in Paediatric First Aid and hold current certification (or willingness to undertake necessary training)


     Be an excellent communicator and uphold the professional standards expected of all staff as outlined in Academy and Trust Policies.
