Term time only plus 5 additional days

Full time (35 hours) or part time (flexible options available).

Grade 7 SCP 20 - 24 (FTE £33,673 - £36,581) or  Grade 8 SCP 25 - 28 (FTE £37,563 - £40,445)  dependent on experience and qualification.

We are seeking to appoint a specialist Exams Access Arrangements (EAA) Assessor to join our experienced SEND and Examinations teams at St Mary’s College. This is a key professional role requiring a highly skilled and qualified practitioner who meets the JCQ requirements for specialist assessors, including holding a Level 7 postgraduate qualification in individual specialist assessment, SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), or HCPC registration as a psychologist. 

As the EAA Assessor, you will be responsible for leading compliant and high quality specialist assessments for Exam Access Arrangements, ensuring that all decisions are evidence-based, robust and aligned with JCQ regulations and Chapter 7 requirements. You will work closely with the SENCo, Exams Officer and teaching staff to ensure accurate identification of student need, high quality documentation, and readiness for JCQ inspection. 

As part of this role, you will work within our dedicated SEND department to support the smooth running of provision across the school. You will play a vital, hands-on role in helping our pupils – particularly students with SEND - access the curriculum and achieve their full potential - whether that involves working directly with small groups of students or assisting in classroom settings. The role will also involve quality assuring the incorporation of any exam access arrangements in a classroom setting.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Conducting specialist assessments using JCQ approved standardised tools and completing Form 8 documentation to a high standard. 

• Interpreting psychometric data and providing clear, accurate, evidence based recommendations for access arrangements. 

• Ensuring all aspects of the assessment process comply with JCQ AARA requirements, including normal way of working and evidence standards. 

• Maintaining up to date records of testing, qualification evidence and professional accreditation for inspection readiness. 

• Working collaboratively with the SENCo, teachers and Exams Officer to ensure timely referrals, accurate evidence gathering and successful AAO submissions. 

• Supporting staff understanding of expected classroom practice that evidences normal way of working. 

• Contributing to a highly organised and compliant Access Arrangements cycle across the academic year. 

- Quality assuring the incorporation of exams access arrangements in a classroom setting, and working with classroom teachers to ensure this can be done effectively. 

• Working closely within the SEND and examinations teams, supporting with wider elements of the running of the school to ensure all learners can flourish. 

The successful candidate will: 

• Hold a Level 7 postgraduate qualification in individual specialist assessment, a current SpLD APC, or HCPC registration. 

• Hold QTS/QTLS or an equivalent teaching qualification. 

• Have experience conducting assessments for learning difficulties, literacy needs, or exam access. 

• Have excellent written communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to fixed deadlines. 

• Be proactive, highly organised, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team. 

• Be confident in presenting and defending assessment decisions during JCQ inspection processes.
