About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCo to support the strategic leadership and day-to-day operation of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision within our secondary school.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who is keen to develop their expertise in inclusive education and SEND leadership. We welcome applications from teachers with any subject specialism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SENDCo in the coordination and delivery of high-quality SEND provision across the school
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure inclusive, adaptive teaching practices are embedded across classrooms
  • Contribute to the identification, assessment, and review of students with SEND
  • Support the development and monitoring of SEND support plans and interventions
  • Liaise effectively with parents, external agencies, and support services
  • Promote high expectations and positive outcomes for all learners

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with experience of teaching in a secondary school
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of teaching and learning, and a clear understanding that highly intentional teaching is the key to meeting the needs of all learners in the classroom
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive practice and removing barriers to learning
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be reflective, organised, and keen to develop professionally within SEND leadership

Experience of working with students with SEND is essential. A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory guidance which schools must align with is desirable.
