The Assistant Headteacher (also Raising Standards Leader) will play a key role in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of both schools, with a clear focus on securing strong academic outcomes for all pupils. The postholder will lead on raising attainment and progress so that outcomes are at least in line with, and increasingly above, national averages, ensuring that pupils with SEND, those who are disadvantaged and those at risk of underachievement achieve as well as their peers. The role is underpinned by a PiXL-informed, evidence-led approach, using sharp assessment, diagnostic analysis and high-quality teaching to translate systems into measurable classroom impact.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Headteacher (Raising Standards Leader), you will:
• Work with SLT to raise attainment and progress for all pupils, including those with SEND and our most disadvantaged learners
• Lead a PiXL-informed approach to raising standards, ensuring diagnostic assessment, QLA and gap analysis lead to timely, targeted action
• Ensure high-quality teaching is consistently in place, with adaptive practice meeting the needs of every learner
• Lead and refine assessment systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy and meaningful impact on classroom practice
• Use formative and summative data to identify trends, barriers and priorities, and evaluate the impact of actions taken
• Work closely with the Curriculum Leader to ensure curriculum implementation leads to strong outcomes for all groups
• Champion excellent attendance, recognising its critical role in achievement, particularly for vulnerable pupils
• Support staff to use PiXL resources intelligently to strengthen teaching, address misconceptions and close gaps
• Maintain a clear overview of key cohorts and individuals, ensuring no pupil becomes invisible within the system
