About this Role

Family Liaison Worker (Term Time Only)
Grade 6 (£26,824 - £29,064) pro rata, actual salary for 25 hours (£15,161.69 - £16,427.81)

Join Our Team as a Family Liaison Worker within our attendance team at Icknield Community College!

Icknield Community College, an 11-16 comprehensive school in the Oxfordshire town of Watlington, is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and adaptable teaching assistant to support learners in the school from Sept 2026.

In December 2024, Ofsted inspected our school and concluded that:

·        Staff are effusive about working in the school and value its mindful approach to workload.

·        Pupils are proud to be members of this ambitious and friendly school.

·        Pupils value the warm and respectful relationships they have with staff.

·        Pupils’ behaviour is calm and orderly.

In March 2025, The Sunday Times named Icknield Community College the happiest secondary school in Oxfordshire. More recently, in October 2025, the Great British Schools Guide (GBSG) ranked the school joint sixth nationally in terms of “safest schools”, based on the latest Parent View feedback for the 2024–2025 academic year. These recognitions reflect our strong commitment to student wellbeing and success, further supported by Ofsted’s Parent View survey, where 98% of parents said they would recommend the school. Are you a dedicated and hard-working individual looking to make a positive impact in our school community? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are currently seeking a Family Liaison Officer to join our team and play a vital role in improving attendance across the school. In this role, you will work closely with pupils, staff, parents, and carers to promote positive attitudes towards regular school attendance, support vulnerable families and work closely with students to help them to be successful in school.

What We Offer:

·        Full support from an experienced professional team of staff

·        Well-established protocols and systems to support your work

·        Continuing Professional Development and training opportunities

·        The opportunity to work in an innovative and forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trust

·        Cycle to work scheme

The role is based on a 25- 37 hour working week, with potential flexibility for the right candidate. Detailed job description and person specification is attached.

Should you wish to ask any questions about the role prior to submitting an application, please feel free to write to Vicky Pickford vicky.pickford@icknield.oxon.sch.uk (Deputy Headteacher and DSL)

We reserve the right to withdraw this vacancy at any time ahead of the closing date if there is a good level of response. Therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible. We also reserve to right to interview shortlisted candidates ahead of the closing date.

Please be advised that references may be requested on receipt of your application. Please state if you wish this to be delayed until shortlisting/interviews have taken place.
