About this Role

Ready to make a real difference every single day?

We're looking for an enthusiastic, driven Teaching Assistant to join our team — someone who lights up around children, thrives in a busy classroom, and genuinely believes every child deserves the chance to shine.

The Role

This isn't a passive role. You'll be right at the heart of the action — mentoring pupils, sparking curiosity, and helping children overcome barriers to learning. From preparing vibrant classroom environments and creating eye-catching displays, to delivering focused 1:1 support and leading small group sessions, no two days will look the same.

You'll champion positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing, spot early signs that a child needs extra support, and work hand-in-hand with passionate teachers who share your drive. Storytelling, reading, hands-on activities — you'll bring learning to life in ways that stick.

About You

You're energetic, organised, and warm — the kind of person pupils remember. You bring:

  • Brilliant communication skills and a natural ability to connect with children, families, and colleagues
  • Strong literacy and numeracy to support learning across the curriculum
  • A creative, inclusive approach that meets every child where they are
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to confidentiality

Experience with SEMH needs is a bonus — but if you're hungry to grow and determined to make an impact, we want to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

The Primary First Trust is 100% focused on primary education, and it shows. We offer:

  • Real career development, including access to professional qualifications
  • A comprehensive employee assistance programme (GP, physiotherapy, counselling and more)
  • Local government pension scheme with enhanced maternity and sickness benefits
  • An ambitious, supportive leadership team — and children who genuinely love learning

How to Apply

We'd love for you to visit us before you apply — come and see what makes our school special (visits are informal and separate from the recruitment process).

To apply, complete the application form via MyNewTerm — CVs won't be accepted. Apply early: if we find the right person, we'll move quickly. For any issues with MyNewTerm, contact the People Team at pftpeople@theprimaryfirsttrust.co.uk.

The Primary First Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, health clearance, social media screening, satisfactory references, and a probationary period. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds. No agencies.
