About this Role

We are seeking to recruit an inspiring Cover Supervisor to join our enthusiastic and professional team for 30 hours per week. The role is a term time only position plus at least one inset day at the start of the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity to directly support students and staff at Larkmead and to enhance the learning outcomes for our student body.

The successful applicant will have high expectations of all students and be committed to raising educational achievement in classes across both the curriculum and academic years. Flexibility is key as the daily role is a reactive one requiring you to move to where need is greatest.

You will be joining a school that has a well-deserved reputation for its inclusive and caring ethos. Our students are loyal and friendly and respond well to teachers who are caring and who have high expectations.  As our last Ofsted report made clear, “The school’s caring ethos ensures it maintains its high expectations, both academically and personally, while also continuing to provide strong support to pupils.”

Training will be given but it would be an advantage to have classroom experience hence the role would suit an existing Teaching Assistant looking to expand and develop their career within education or a graduate considering a future in Teaching.  Ideally the post holders will be able to work 5 days per week 8.30am – 3.15pm with 45 minute unpaid rest break each day. However part-time working patterns will also be considered.

We offer:

  • an excellent programme of induction and training which seeks to provide an excellent foundation for career progression
  • a forward thinking environment which recognises the benefits of considering flexible working patterns
  • a friendly, caring, supportive and collaborative team environment
  • a professional environment dedicated to Teaching and Learning with a supportive, dedicated and hardworking staff
  • Commitment to a positive culture and robust positive behaviour management
  • A commitment to recognise previous, continuous service.
  • A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
  • A Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Eligible for Blue Light discount card
  • Free parking
  • Free Eye Care Voucher

Larkmead is a school with clear, positive values, which add positive value to our students and staff.  We are a diverse community and greatly value the contribution that colleagues from different backgrounds and with different experiences bring to our school.

If this sounds like the sort of opportunity and environment you are looking for in your career journey and you feel that you possess these attributes, then we very much look forward to meeting you.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch and visit the school prior to making a formal application.

The school reserves the right to consider and interviews candidates ahead of the closing date if appropriate.  An offer may be made to an exceptional candidate in this instance.

Larkmead is a happy, ambitious and vibrant school packed full of energy, opportunity and choice.  Great teaching and learning across the school are supported by our culture of research and collaboration.  Each student gets the very best experience to enable them to achieve their ambitions.  Our pastoral care provides compassion, security and confidence, nurturing students to be happy, to develop and to thrive.  The Larkmead promise sets out our vision, ethos and ambitions for students and staff.

Larkmead School and The Cambrian Learning Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism.  We expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  All post holders in regulated activity are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory “Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Check. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online searches for publicly available information.

The Cambrian Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds to represent diversity in line with our schools’ community.

All staff will be expected to promote fundamental British values as part of a school that values diversity and individuality, exemplified in our values of ‘one community, individual minds, creating futures.’
