About the Role
As Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school remains safe, secure, welcoming and fully operational. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will support the day-to-day management and maintenance of the academy's buildings and grounds, helping to create an environment where students can thrive.
Your responsibilities
will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive
maintenance across the site
- Supporting health and safety compliance,
inspections and record keeping
- Opening and securing the school premises
and acting as a keyholder
- Monitoring building systems, plant and
equipment
- Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance
tasks
- Supporting site security, CCTV and
contractor management
- Assisting with grounds maintenance and
housekeeping duties
- Responding to emergency situations,
including adverse weather events
- Supporting capital projects and improvement works across the academy

Essential
Requirements
- Experience working in a facilities,
maintenance, caretaking or premises role
- Knowledge of building maintenance and
first-line repairs
- Understanding of health and safety
procedures
- Good organisational skills and ability to
prioritise workloads
- Competence in using ICT systems and
web-based platforms
- Strong communication skills, both written
and verbal
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to
changing priorities
- Willingness to undertake First Aid
training
Desirable
Qualifications and Experience
- IWFM Level 2 or equivalent qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in Caretaking
- Trade qualification in plumbing or
electrical work
- Current First Aid at Work qualification
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification
- Experience working within an educational
environment
