Gap Year Opportunity: Teaching Assistant

 

We have an exciting opportunity for Year 13 Sixth Form students to apply for a Teaching Assistant Level 2 Gap Year Position

 

Duration: Fixed-term 12-month contract, starting September 2025

Working Hours: 31.25 hours per week term-time plus 5 days, 8:30am – 3:15pm including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break

Actual salary:  Grade D SCP6 - SCP 11 £18,193 - £19,700 plus SEN allowance £1,077

Closing date: Friday, 14th March 2025

 

Overview:

This a one year fixed-term employment contract which will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant whilst receiving valuable, practical work experience in a school. Your main role will be to provide support to teaching staff and students in a variety of ways; including special needs support and exam invigilation. The successful applicant will potentially work across a range of resource provisions, liaising with teachers, parents and therapists to support the children. 

This would be an excellent opportunity for anyone considering a career as a teacher or in education, or as a gap year.  

 

Person Specification:

  • -         Level 2 or higher in English/Literacy & Maths
  • -         Genuine and demonstrable interest in working with young people and education
  • -         Enthusiasm, commitment and resilience
  • -         Willingness to learn and participate in an educational setting
  • -         Ability to be a positive role-model to young people
