About the job

We are looking for a passionate, caring, and dedicated reception class teacher who will create a nurturing environment where young learners feel safe, valued, and excited to explore the world around them. With a focus on fostering creativity, curiosity, and confidence, the teacher will provide a stimulating and supportive atmosphere that encourages each child to grow at their own pace. Through continuous provision and personalised learning, the teacher will help lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning in every child.

We run a continuous provision throughout early years and foundation stage and we are in the process of moving this provision across Key stage 1 and then in to Key stage 2.

Our Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS) team are highly skilled and we are looking for a teacher who is willing to embrace our pedagogy.

Running continuous provision requires a teacher to have a unique set of skills to ensure that the learning environment is engaging, stimulating, and meets the developmental needs of the children.

Planning and Organisation -The ability to plan and organise a variety of resources and popup provisions that cater for the diverse needs of children. This includes setting up different areas (e.g., role play, construction, creative, outdoor play) and ensuring that resources are readily available and replenished.

Observation and Assessment -Strong observational skills to monitor children’s progress, interests, and developmental milestones, as well as the ability to assess how children are engaging with the provision to ensure that every interaction is a learning opportunity.

Understanding of Child Development - A deep understanding of the developmental stages of children in the EYFS and how to create an environment that supports both the academic and social-emotional needs of children at varying developmental levels.

Resource Management - The ability to effectively manage and rotate resources in a way that maintains children’s interest, provides variety, and ensures safety.

Flexibility and Adaptability - The ability to adapt continuous provision based on children's changing interests, needs, and abilities.

Effective Classroom Management - The ability to manage behaviour and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while children engage with the provisions.

Ability to Foster Independent Learning - Creating opportunities for children to take ownership of their learning, solve problems, and explore independently.

Communication Skills - The ability to communicate with children in an engaging and supportive way, guiding their learning through questions, prompts and encouragement and ensure that every interaction is a learning opportunity.

Creativity - The ability to design and adapt activities and resources that inspire creativity, imagination, and exploration in children.

Collaboration and Teamwork - The ability to collaborate with other staff members to create, maintain, and assess the effectiveness of the continuous provision.

Reflective Practice - The ability to reflect on your practice and make adjustments based on feedback, observations, and children's needs.

Cultural Competence and Inclusivity - The ability to create an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity, making all children feel valued and supported.

Health and Safety Awareness - Knowledge of health and safety guidelines and the ability to ensure that all resources and activities are safe for children.
