Sir Frederick Gibberd College is seeking an experienced and
committed SENDCo to lead and coordinate provision for students with
special educational needs and disabilities across the school. This is an
exciting opportunity to shape inclusive practice, promote high standards of
behaviour and achievement, and ensure that all students receive the support
they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
The successful candidate will oversee the strategic
leadership of SEND provision, including line management of the Deputy SENDCo
and mainstream Co-Educators, maintaining the SEND register, monitoring student
progress, and working closely with staff, parents, external agencies and BMAT
colleagues to deliver effective interventions and support. The role also
includes responsibility for ensuring statutory compliance, contributing to
school self-evaluation and improvement planning, and promoting a culture of inclusion,
collaboration and high expectations across the Academy.
The successful applicant will play a key role in
strengthening partnerships within the school community, supporting staff
development, and helping to create a positive and nurturing learning
environment where every student can succeed.
If you are passionate about education and driven to make a
meaningful difference, we would be delighted to hear from you.
About the School
Sir Frederick Gibberd College is a forward-thinking and
aspirational 11–18 secondary school in Harlow, Essex, with a clear and
ambitious vision for excellence. Under new Headship since November 2026, the
school is entering an exciting phase of growth and development, with a strong
focus on raising standards and securing exceptional outcomes for all students.
Our shared values are respected, kindness and success.
Our aim is to establish Sir Frederick Gibberd College as a
centre of excellence: a place where high-quality teaching and learning are
consistently delivered; where standards of behaviour, care, and support are
exemplary; and where every student is empowered to achieve, succeed, and
flourish.
Since opening in September 2019, the school is named after
the distinguished architect who designed Harlow as one of the UK’s first
post-war new towns and has been committed to serving its local community with
pride. The school has grown steadily from its first Year 7 cohort into a
thriving and inclusive community, where students, families, and staff work in
partnership to learn, contribute, and succeed. The introduction of the Sixth
Form in September 2021 marked a significant expansion, enabling students to
continue their education in a supportive and ambitious environment that
prepares them for the next stage of their lives.
At Sir Frederick Gibberd College, we provide a personalised
and engaging curriculum, enriched by a wide range of innovative opportunities
beyond the classroom. We are dedicated to developing confident, capable, and
well-rounded individuals, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to
realise their full potential.
