Clarendon School is a vibrant and inclusive special academy for 190 pupils aged 4–16 with Moderate and Complex Learning Difficulties. We operate across three self-contained sites within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.  Our Primary, Secondary & Riverside centres benefit from excellent purpose-built facilities, and we are proud members of the Auriga Academy Trust, a unique partnership of special schools across West London committed to achieving the very best outcomes for young people with additional learning needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Health and Wellbeing Lead for the Primary and Riverside Centres. We are seeking a compassionate, proactive and organised individual to lead and promote the health, wellbeing and inclusion of our pupils across the school. You will play a key role in developing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where pupils can thrive both physically and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the school's health and wellbeing provision for two centres.
  • Supporting pupils with their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
  • Liaising with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
  • Developing and delivering health and wellbeing initiatives and programmes.
  • Maintaining accurate medical, wellbeing and safeguarding records.
  • Coordinating staff training related to health and wellbeing where appropriate.
  • Supporting the implementation of care plans, medication procedures and medical protocols.
  • Promoting positive health practices across the school community.
  • Working closely with senior leaders and safeguarding staff to support vulnerable pupils.

 You will:

Have experience working in health, wellbeing, education or a related field.

Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Be highly organised with strong attention to detail.

Have the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and professionals.

Understand the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and GDPR.

Be proactive, compassionate and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Hold, or be willing to undertake, relevant first aid and health-related training.

Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) would be advantageous but is not essential.
