About Us

Parrs Wood High School and Sixth Form is a thriving and popular secondary school located in East Didsbury, Manchester.  We serve a diverse student body and offer a truly comprehensive learning environment for students aged 11 to 18. Our ethos is built on the core values of Community, Creativity, and Achievement, which shape every aspect of school life, from our curriculum and pastoral care to our relationships with families and the wider community. We are a part of the Greater Manchester Education Trust. Together, we create lives of opportunity.

We are committed to delivering an inspiring education that enables every student to thrive academically and personally. Our students consistently achieve excellent outcomes and go on to lead successful lives in a wide range of careers. With dedicated staff, fantastic facilities, and a strong emphasis on creativity, leadership, and extracurricular enrichment, Parrs Wood is a place where every child is valued, challenged, and supported to reach their full potential.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of History to join our Humanities faculty and deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that promote strong progress and high achievement for all students. You will use effective assessment, adaptive teaching strategies and data‑informed practice to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with SEND. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development, working collaboratively within the faculty, promoting positive behaviour for learning, and supporting the wider life of the school through extracurricular and enrichment opportunities. The ability to teach History at Key Stage 5 would be advantageous.

About You

You will be a qualified secondary teacher with strong subject knowledge in History and a clear understanding of current pedagogy, curriculum and assessment requirements. You will be an effective classroom practitioner with high expectations of student behaviour, engagement and achievement. We are looking for a reflective, organised and resilient professional who is committed to continuous professional development and raising standards. You will work well both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and share our strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s community and British values.

We are committed to safeguarding, child protection and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Full details about the role and the qualifications, experience, and attributes required can be found in the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
