About this Role

Premises Supervisor

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Premises Supervisor, supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of the school site in line with our shared values and improvement priorities.

Doubletrees School provides a creative and ambitious centre of learning for 110 pupils with a range of severe and complex learning and communication needs, aged from 2–19 years. Our environment plays a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and safety, and this post is central to the smooth running of the school.

The school is a member of the Special Partnership Trust, an ambitious and inspiring collaboration of specialist provision across Cornwall, Devon and Torbay, with a strong focus on excellence in learning for everyone.

We are looking to appoint a skilled, reliable and proactive Premises Supervisor with experience of site management, facilities, maintenance and health and safety. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-organised environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.

The role requires strong organisational skills, practical ability and a solution-focused approach. You will need enthusiasm, initiative and resilience, alongside the ability to manage your workload effectively and respond calmly to the varied demands of a busy special school environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to develop their skills within a unique education setting and a supportive multi-academy trust. You will work closely with school leaders, trust colleagues and external contractors to ensure the premises are compliant, secure and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management and maintenance of the school site and buildings
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and statutory checks
  • Overseeing security of the premises, including opening and closing procedures
  • Liaising with contractors and monitoring works on site
  • Supporting fire safety, safeguarding and emergency procedures
  • Maintaining records related to premises, compliance and maintenance
  • Undertaking minor repairs, maintenance tasks and porterage as required

Experience working in a school or similar setting is advantageous, though applicants from other sectors with relevant premises, caretaking or facilities experience are very welcome. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) would be beneficial.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • A positive outlook and proactive attitude
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Doubletrees School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of checks and references, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, online checks will be carried out for shortlisted candidates.

We offer a thorough induction and ongoing professional development opportunities. You will have the chance to work across our setting and within the Trust to support your continued development. A commitment to learning and professional growth is essential, and a generous Trust benefits package is available to all employees.

If you have the commitment, energy, initiative and drive to support our core values, we would welcome your application. Informal visits are encouraged — please call 01726 812757 to arrange a visit.
